Hasbury's last nail makers cottage and nailshop
260 Hagley Road, Hasbury is Hasbury's last remaining nail makers cottage with adjoining nail shop which was added to the cottage in the 1880's. The cottage is the very last surviving building in Hasbury that is built from local Hasbury red/pink sandstone from Quarry Lane over the road from it, it is also the very last vernacular rural building left, a type that was once the very style and essence of the hamlet of Hasbury before the Victorians built it up with brick built terraces . The cottage dates to, I believe, before 1800 and I would very much appreciate any information or images anyone may have of it. If you look at the image of the two nailers standing beside a nail shop window c1909 ( picture above ) in this album you will see that it was taken outside this cottage's nail shop, I believe that the Rose family owned the cottage and were related to the Hacketts.
