For those who appreciate that Motor Transport wasn't available so far back in time, here's what preceeded the polluting monsters of today. The simple horse drawn Omnibus, started life as a humble cart, then progressed to become the forerunner of todays urban transport system. But when exactly did they begin. Here's a little guide, by way of a Map, that shows the major routes, and the date they started.
I am not suggesting that all the dates are spot on, mistakes happen, but for research purposes into your family tree, it does give you a clue, of how your relatives managed to get about. Sadly, I haven't got a list of the fares charged.
A wonderful thing is work, I could watch it all day. ( See my Blog entry )
